REFLECTIONS : Congratulations to our first "Camper of the Week" Recipients this year. Ethan Tufts: Our first Camper of the Week is an excellent role model for students. Logan Dean: Our second Camper of the Week this year, is an outstanding example of a dedicated learner. Congratulations to both young men. You should be honored to be elected by your peers as classroom leaders. VETERAN'S DAY CONCERT: November 8 at 9:30 and that same evening at 6:20. This is an amazing concert. We have all worked hard to create a special event in honor of our Veteran's. Students have practiced special songs and some have important speaking parts. They must be here for the evening production as well. A form is coming home to let you know what is expected. Please check this carefully and return it on Monday, November 5th. Thank You for your support.
Our trip to OPI was, once again, an amazing experience. Our parent chaperones have as much fun, if not more, than our TEAM students do. A thousand thank you's to all of you for supporting fundraisers and volunteering in your students classrooms. Without you this trip would not be possible. Class pictures were taken on Friday. BAND CONCERT: The Silver Ridge and TEAM 5th and 6th grade band concert was a great success. I was so impressed with what a fantastic job they did this early in our school year. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU for listening to them practice at home!!! Celebration of Reading: A yellow note was sent out to parents and guardians on Monday of this past week. It updates you on this event. These forms should have been signed and returned by Wednesday, October 24th. This is an activity we do in the TEAM program every year. I will be reviewing expectations with students on Monday, October 29th to prepare them for the written and oral pieces of their required project. NOTE: Students will present their character to each of the other TEAM classes on Wednesday, October 31st and Thursday, November 1st. Students may come to school in costume on Wednesday but on Thursday must bring their costume in a bag and were no make-up. This extra day is a change from past years. Because of the building-wide Halloween costume parade our time was limited and we added the extra day in order to give each participant a chance to portray their character. Planners: The planner comes home daily and must be signed by you. Look in the planner for academic information as well as dates for special events for the year. INDEPENDENT ACTIVITIES: We are going to make our first project Holiday Related. Each of the four classrooms in TEAM will offer, and teach several different holiday craft projects. Students will rotate through our craft sessions and have at least three completed projects when they have finished. This will take place on Thursdays. More information will follow soon. CHECK YOUR STUDENTS BACK-PACK: Please check daily for notes from school. Your students should have a THE folder to carry information back and forth on a daily basis. ATTENTION: TEAM parents of 5th grade students. I will be taking our 5th gradeTEAM students to "Islandwood" camp with the Silver Ridge students in February this year. It is an expensive trip and many fundraisers are done between now and then. I would encourage you to participate in these as a TEAM parent. You may log in your volunteer hours just as you would in TEAM. I will be needing TWO team parents of our fifth grade group to go along with us. As we join with Silver Ridge students and staff we will need to remember that there are things we may need to do differently. Look to this space for any new rules for traveling from place to place in the building, noise level expectations etc.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we become part of
an amazing new community. The Silver Ridge staff has gone above
and beyond in welcoming us to their home. |
