We have many fun writing activities planned for this year and we have some not very fun writing activities planned this year. There is so much to teach in writing that we have a hard time fitting everything in during the school year. So one thing I encourage with my students is writing out side the classroom. I’d love for them to write all the time. They can write poetry, a diary, a shopping list, a reflection of some where they have traveled or a description of a pretty sunset or mountain scene they have witnessed. They could write a postcard to a friend or relative, or even an email. (Notice I did not say text message!) There is no end to the ideas for writing this summer!!!
    
     One curriculum we will be using is called TQW or Teaching Quality Writing by Fletcher and Portalupi which contains writing lessons on every topic of writing. This will be supplemented by lots of reading and texts which we will analyze for qualities of writing. I thoroughly enjoy writing and hope to make your students enjoy it too!
